United Airlines Announces Launch of New EasyCheck-In at London Heathrow

LONDON, 18 January 2006 --  United Airlines has announced the introduction of its EasyCheck-in system at London Heathrow Airport. This is United’s first European station to install the EasyCheck-in.

Customers flying from London on all United Airlines flights with an e-ticket will benefit from a more convenient and faster check-in at the airport.  Dedicated EasyCheck-in machines will allow United’s customers to avoid queues on arrival at Heathrow Terminal 3 by checking them in and printing boarding passes.

How it works:

  1. The customer is greeted by an agent who asks standard security questions.
  1. The customer thenproceeds directly to United’s six dedicated machines (including one  wheelchairaccessible unit). The EasyCheck-in machines are simple to use, with a touch screen process and choice of eight language options. The unit scans the machine-readable passport, following which the customer must verify both passport and flight information. The passenger then selects a choice of seat and has the option of inputting Mileage Plus details as well as organising an upgrade if they have sufficient Mileage Plus points.
  1. Once checked in, the customer can take their bags to a dedicated bag drop desk, conveniently situated next to the units.

Brandon O’Reilly, Managing Director, Airport Operations, Europe and South America said: “The EasyCheck-in system is an important step in reducing the length of time passengers take to check-in.  I am delighted that our customers will have a quick, simple to use automated check-in system that will speed them on their way.”
