Serving more than 64 million travellers each year, Heathrow is the world's busiest international airport. United has put together a few facts to help you get through the airport as quickly as possible, so your journey is smooth and hassle-free.

Check In
Please plan to arrive no less than two hours prior to departures for United flights; if you are travelling during peak hours, you may want to allow a bit more time. United's check-in desks are located in Terminal 1, Departure Zone C. Here you will also find a designated area for United's Business desks which Premier, Premier Executive and 1K members may use. Check-in closes 45 minutes prior to departure. If you are travelling in United First or you are a Global Services member, you may check in at our dedicated desks in Zone G.

Documents
To check in for your flight, you must have a valid passport and either a paper ticket, E-Ticket receipt or the credit card used to purchase your E-Ticket. If you are travelling to the U.S. without a visa and are eligible for the Visa Waiver Programme, you must complete the green I-94W form (available at all check-in desks) prior to arrival.

Security
After check-in, please take the escalator to the upper level and follow the signs to the departure lounge for security screening. At the security checkpoint, you will need to show your boarding pass and present your carry-on baggage for screening.

Stylish, Modern Lounges
Terminal 1 offers United customers an enjoyable lounge experience at London Heathrow. A Star Alliance departure lounge, with distinct first and business class areas, provides a quiet retreat where travellers can relax prior to their flight. Both areas feature private and comfortable seating in an exclusive environment, complimentary food and beverages, as well as shower facilities and the latest business technology, including Wi-Fi Internet access. The arrivals lounge, available to United, bmi, and South African Airways customers, offers the same amenities.
